It's sting is deadly and cyberspace is vulnerable. A new computer virus is on the prowl and it goes by the name "Beebone". It has 20 other aliases and being from a Trojan downloader family it silently downloads and installs other malware and programs without user consent.
It is time internet users have to take some precautions. They have to be cautious while using external and removable storage devices.
The Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) recommends that users disable auto-run functionality in Windows and regularly update their OS, so as to receive the latest patches and bug fixes.
PC users should also keep away from untrusted websites & keep their anti-virus and anti-spyware signatures on their desktop and gateway level up to date. They should use strong passwords and also enable password policies and avoid pirated software. The Beebone works its way into a computer by faking its identity first, and then deploys corrupt technique to attack the vulnerable systems.
The CERT-In has provided a list of aliases that the virus is known to take on: Trojan.Win32.Jorik.Fareit.qru (Kaspersky), W32/Autorun.worm.aaeh!gen (McAfee), W32/VobFus-BX (Sophos), Trojan horse ( Symantec), Trojan-FBZZ! 41E0B7088DD9 (McAfee), Trojan.Win32.SelfDel.aqhh (Kaspersky), Trojan.Win32.Jorik.Fareit.qsl (Kaspersky), Beebone-FMQ! 039FA2520D97 (McAfee),W32.Changeup! gen40 (Symantec) & Worm.Win32.Vobfus.dxpf (Kaspersky).
